One bright day in the yard, and bottles spread all around. They glittered in the morning sun like jewels strewn on the grass. It was as if a huge heap of empty bottles had sprouted overnight. But where did they come from, and what should we do with all these empty bottles?
Now what do we do with all those empty bottles? That was the question in everybody’s mind as they looked over the giant mound. Some even recommended recycling them to save the Earth, or to use them for fun arts and crafts. One neat idea was to use them as bird feeders: fill them with seeds and hang them up in the trees. There were just so many things that could happen!
In the morning light the empty bottles glowed as if they were whispering to one another. They appeared to speak of a happy party the previous evening, in which friends had met to laugh and be merry. The bottles had performed admirably, now empty and prepared for their next outing.
By morning the pile of empty bottles had begun to shrink as people cleaned up. Some went off to be recycled, and some were deposited into bins to be repurposed. They pitched in and, together, they cleared the bottles and turned the backyard beautiful once again.
The story of one bottle at a fun party was brief yet meaningful. It began life full of fizzy drink, handed around friends as they drank to good times. By night's end, the bottle grew lighter, lighter until finally it was set down empty with the others. It was another great evening courtesy of each bottle.
In the end the empty bottles were everyone’s reminder of the joy, and the friendship, they had shared. They might have just been bottles, but they held memories of laughter and good times. As the sun cast evening light over the backyard, the empty bottles stood for the friendships formed, the joy consumed. So the next time you’re looking at empty bottles lying around, keep in mind the fun they signify and the friendships they helped foster.
